The prestigious EXPO universal exposition took this year in the Italian city of Milan. Among the 147 countries presenting their traditions, creativity and innovation, Poland is one of the brighter points. The exhibition in the fourth-largest EXPO pavilion is organized under the supervision of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). One of the accompanying events will be Polish ICT Week, which will consist of two elements: an exhibition of the most interesting Polish companies in the ICT sector (organized by the Ministry of Administration and Digitization) and accompanying events like a conference organized by PARP during which eight Polish tech companies will present their most innovative ideas. With a mentorship list that included Brad Feld of Foundry Group, Fred Wilson of Union Ventures and Dick Costolo, ex-CEO of Twitter,Techstars is a giant among global startup accelerators. They just launched a program in Berlin earlier this summer. The managing director of Techstars Berlin, Jens Lapinski, paid Krakow a visit at the invitation of local start-ups. He was hosted by coworking space COLAB. He helped out by providing a whole day of mentoring and an evening of pitching and networking

This July, TechCrunch took its show on the road with a series of meet-ups for start-up founders in major Polish cities. For the past year Toruń has had an active new technologies incubator – the Exea Smart Space. To celebrate its first birthday, almost 200 people came to the town of Copernicus for the biggest conference dedicated to start-ups in the region. The Pirate Summit is the largest early-stage start-up event in Europe. Its unconventional setting and its handpicked participants (invitation or application only) set it apart from similar events. Started in Krakow, this year the Bitspiration Festival of technology and music moved to Warsaw for the first time. Over two days, experts from around the world advised attendees in such diverse topics as finding your first financing, utilizing virtual reality, kickstarting your hardware start-up, choosing an accelerator and managing music in a digital era.
